FILLING INSTRUCTIONS:

Water may be delivered by a tank truck in the amount equal to assure the liner be set to fit the floor and walls of the pool surfaces.  Usually that is one or two loads (6,000 gallons each); larger pools can require three or more loads to set the liner.  The rest can be filled with your garden hose.

A simple method of measuring your particular properties water flow involves a 5-gallon bucket and a watch.  Place the hose in the bucket, turn on the hose and start your watch. Measure how long it takes for the bucket to fill to the top.  Then divide by the number of minutes it took to fill the bucket by 5 to determine your average flow rate in gallons per minute.

On average a 10,000 gallon pool will take between 12-15 hours.

MAINTENANCE:

To avoid the build up of unhealthy, unsightly algae and bacteria, it’s important to brush your pool’s walls and floors once a week.  If this residue accumulates, it can create maintenance issues.

For pools equipped with a main drain(s), the experts at Brighton Pools® recommend keeping them closed at all times, with the exception of cleaning times.  By brushing dirt towards the main drain, material can be removed from the pool floor.  Keeping these drains closed during swimming ensures the safety of the swimmers.

WATER CHEMISTRY:

It is vital to your pool’s longevity and health that the chemicals are always kept in proper balance, preferably by a professional pool company like Brighton Pools®.  Total Alkalinity, pH, Calcium Hardness, Stabilizer and Total Dissolved Solids must be balanced correctly in order for the water to properly use the chlorine, shock or algaecide.

Swimmer’s comfort is dependent upon the proper pH.  A teardrop’s pH is 7.5, meaning we must keep our pools in the 7.4 – 7.6 range.  Since chlorine is dependent upon the right pH level, if this level becomes incorrect, it will render the chlorine ineffective.  Moreover, a high pH can cause staining while a low pH may cause puckering and wrinkling of the liner.

Chlorine floating dispensers should not be used.

If your pool is equipped with a saltwater chlorine generator here is a helpful guide showing how to program the system, set-up schedules and includes trouble shooting scenarios. Hayward AquaRite S3 Technical Guide

Important:  Do not allow swimmers or bathers in the pool until it is balanced for swimming. Water considered safe for swimmers and bathers includes a pH between 7.4 and 7.6 and a free chlorine residual of at least 1.0 ppm.

Always add a chemical to the water, never water to the chemical.

By following each step for a proper pH, you are protecting your pool and your swimmers.  Using a three-step care treatment system with specially formulated stain and scale control inhibitors will assure a beautiful finish for many years to come.  Each month bring a water sample to a professional testing lab for analysis, plus test your water at least twice a week for an at-home kit.

SALT GENERATION AND ULTRAVIOLET OZONE SYSTEMS:

Save money using alternative sanitization solutions, like ozone systems.  Get rid of ugly biofilm build-up on surfaces while simultaneously ensuring the healthiness of the water through these amazing systems.

Ozone is a considerably stronger and faster acting oxidizer than chlorine.  Lower concentrations of ozone to do the same or better job than chlorine.  Since you are reducing the use of chlorine, you are also reducing the chloramines (chlorine smell) and creating water that is more beautiful and more comfortable for your swimmers.

Having the proper sanitization solutions in place is vital, especially in light of what a recent national survey uncovered about people’s unhealthy swimming habits:

  • Around 75% do not take a shower before swimming.  One minute of shower time before swimming to remove most contaminants from the body, a habit done by only 20% of participants.
  • Did you know that 27% of adult swimmers have peed in the pool?  Gross.
  • Here’s an alarming fact: 17% of those surveyed admitted to swimming within one hour of having diarrhea! Cryptosporidium (Crypto), a microscopic parasite, is the most common cause of diarrheal illness linked to pools.

Dr. Chris Wiant, Chair of the Water Quality & Health Council, said this:

Swimming is a right of summer, but swimmers’ unhealthy habits can make loved ones sick.  We all share the water we swim in.  Although chlorine and other pool chemical disinfectants are effective at disinfecting pools, they might be used up by contaminants, such as urine, sweat, and dirt from bathers’ bodies.

Chlorine mixing with these contaminants is what makes swimmers’ eyes red, not chlorine in and of itself.

A Salt Generation system together with Hydra Pure Ultraviolet Ozone (UVO3) system will eliminate your costs for chlorine and eliminate staining from heavy metals such as copper, manganese and iron!  These systems also keep everyone swimming safely and more comfortably. UVO3 can eliminate 99.9% of pathogens — this includes pathogens unphased by chlorine.  Safer water that’s incredibly easier to maintain is within reach!

A HydraPure system can save thousands on expensive equipment and increase liner life too.

Salt generation systems start at only $2,795. Our Hydra Pure UVO3 systems are $3,895.  We can design a cost effective system for your pool.
